Hospital of the Future

  •  Working within an occupied healthcare environment
  • Bridging existing building infrastructure to new facility
  • Created a plan to structure a phased replacement of Johnson Controls equipment

ALC-MA is currently engaged in a phased upgrade program at Baystate Medical Center’s new Hospital of the Future, replacing outdated Johnson Controls devices with new Automated Logic Equipment to successfully bridge the hospital’s expansion to the existing buildings on campus.

The 7-story addition to Baystate Medical Center’s existing facilities represents a major step forward in patient care, and the team at Yankee Technology is managing the integration of the new with the old, while also installing high-efficiency equipment fitting for an advanced medical facility. Modern air handlers and energy recovery units will help the Hospital of the Future operate with reduced consumption, using latent heat to improve indoor air quality and reducing total HVAC equipment capacity. As much of the Johnson Controls infrastructure is outdated and replacement parts are scarce, Yankee Technology designed a plan for the hospital to strategically replace failing equipment with new Automated Logic devices in a phased improvement plan.

In addition to the team’s work at Baystate Medical Center, Yankee has also provided improvements to other facilities within the hospital family, including the Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, Massachusetts. In each case, the team exercised the utmost in care for working within an occupied healthcare environment and communicated daily with staff and facilities teams to update them on their planned activity and any necessary shut-downs.
