Culinary Arts Building
- LEED® Silver Certified
- Precision temperature control for food preparation
- Complete integration of 20 fume hoods
Automated Logic - Massachusetts recently completed construction of a high-end mechanical system installation for one of the country’s most recognized culinary institutions, Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
The 2-year project focused on creating and maintaining strict parameters for the critical environments demanded by aspiring chefs. Integrating 20 fume hoods, chillers and air handlers required extensive planning and coordination, as did achieving the school’s desired LEED® Silver certification. Sensitive areas of the building like the Chocolate Room posed unique challenges for us, which worked closely with the school to fine-tune humidity controls and the system’s sequence of operations to ensure all equipment operated within the necessary tolerances for making chocolate.
In addition to integrating the necessary controls to manage the building’s gray water recycling system, we also coordinated 25,000 DDC points throughout the building to help Johnson & Wales achieve LEED® certification.
