Scope

Automated Logic Ontario is an energetic and dynamic organization with over three decades of industry experience.  We are established leaders within the HVAC / Direct Digital Controls industry and our projects include some ofOntario’s largest, most technical Building Automation System solutions.

The successful candidate for this position will apply their engineering knowledge and be provided with opportunities to learn about detailed HVAC process applications within commercial, industrial, institutional, government, and entertainment markets. 

Duties

  1. Conduct detailed take-offs from Mechanical/Electrical/Control Specifications
  2. Interpret Engineered Drawings
  3. Produce detailed designs of Building Automation Systems.  Design work will include:
    • Obtaining thorough knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical systems integration
    • Producing accurate schematic and wiring diagrams
    • Hardware selections of digital controllers, sensors, and devices
    • Integration of control points to a wide variety of complex systems
    • Writing detailed sequences of operation
    • Organizing all related equipment into schedules
    • Preparing packages for ordering floor plan and equipment graphics
  4. Crossover exposure into other systems such as Information Technology and Internet connectivity.
  5. Perform on-site surveys as required to obtain additional information and/or assist site personnel.

Qualifications

  1. Strong communication capability with ability to work with contractors, consulting engineers, project managers, programmers, and skilled trades.
  2. Knowledge of thermal dynamics and fluid dynamics.
  3. Knowledge of programming and writing operational code.  Exposure to object oriented programs.
  4. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply basic design principles.

A formal orientation will quickly allow the candidate to learn the basic procedures necessary to assist Lead Engineers within the department.  The candidate will be given projects of increasing complexity to work on in a team environment as well as independently.  Exposure in the field will provide excellent opportunities to experience various aspects of the HVAC industry from concept to completion for new construction and retrofit projects.   

Previous experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial, but are not prerequisites:  HVAC design, process applications, programming, construction, field exposure (including electrical wiring), detailed drawing design, networks and/or communications technology (BACnet, Modbus, IP, etc.), Microsoft Visio and Excel.
