Design Engineer

Scope
The person in this position will be responsible for the complete engineering design of automatic temperature control and energy management systems. This person will produce control schematics, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, software design and bill of material lists by applying automatic temperature and energy management products in accordance with project specifications. In addition, this person will review internal project estimates, contract (mechanical and electrical) plans and coordinate design requirements with field installation team members.
Duties
- Develops, implements, monitors and communicates the Design Engineering processes, strategies and standards. Provides engineering input to assure proper project costs at pre-bid and pre-book review meetings.
2. Maintains high level of engineering standards. Ensures maximum reuse of designs. Develops and maintains the standard systems engineering library.
3. Design and/or configure control systems that use electronic technology as defined by the project specification or scope of work on retrofit and new construction projects while maintaining quality and ensuring customer satisfaction and quality.
4. Design large and complex building control projects using Microsoft Visio.
5. Prepare design submittals and communicates with consulting engineers to clarify ambiguities to acquire an approved submittal.
6. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers; establishes and maintains relationships.
7. Works with field installation teams to insure timely delivery of Design Engineering in order to maximize successful execution. Provide timeframe estimates to project management for job cost evaluation.
Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial sized mechanical (HVAC) and electrical systems required; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering required; Experience with Microsoft Visio a plus.
