Project Engineer

Scope
The Project Engineer is responsible for producing timely, efficient and quality submittals and as-builts to be sent to the mechanical contractor for approval. The Project Engineer is also responsible for producing all software and graphics for the assigned project. The Project Engineer must also support and be the technical knowledge base for the Installation, Service and Sales Departments.
Duties
- Produce Timely Engineering: Send RFIs early to maintain the project schedule. Monitor MS Project schedules for engineering requirements. Produce packages on or before required dates. Manage percentage of engineering time used for assigned job in order to develop engineering within estimated cost. Edit MS project schedule to reflect percentage complete on projects. Communicate to appropriate parties if the schedule cannot be met.
- Produce Quality Engineering: Create accurate submittals, graphics and databases that meet the department standards. Assign all and check Software Parameters before issuing to the Installation Department.
- Peer Review: Review submittals and software to ensure they adhere to the Department and District Standards.
- Assist Installation and Service: Provide in-house technical training as required. Provide expertise in mechanical equipment Sequence of Operations and instrumentation.
- Interdepartmental Communication: Give feedback to Sales and Project Manager regarding incorrect estimates. Support and participate in Post-Mortem meetings. Produce deviations for Sales Department.
- Produce Quality Graphics: Send drawings to ALC in a timely manner so the graphics are back before the software is due.
- Utilization of Engineering Resources: Generate tasks for the appropriate Team Members for assistance.
- Final Project Documentation: Verify the as-builts for assigned projects are accurate and completed.
- Microsoft Office Skills: Utilize sales estimates to produce applicable documentation for Engineering. Use Word to generate RFI’s, fax cover sheets, and sequence of operations.
- Understanding UES Filing and Storage Structure: Be able to utilize vendor catalogs. Maintain and update all files.
- Eikon Programs: Select air and waterside programs from Library. Modify air and waterside programs. Write custom programs. Be able to check Eikon programs for quality.
- Management: Lead sub teams within the Engineering Department. Lead a District Team to develop and maintain District Standards.
- Leadership: Develop visible leadership skills
Qualifications
College degree and/or a minimum of five years of direct HVAC/Controls experience.
Proficient in AutoCAD (layers, snap, blocks, standard drawing and editing commands), MS Word, Excel and Outlook (e-mail, tasks and calendar).
Read and understand blueprints, specifications, addendums and electrical schematics.
