Scope

Automated Logic Corporation, a United Technologies company (NYSE:UTX), is hiring for Quality Assurance Engineer, Software Test and Integration. This engineer is responsible for the integration; system and regression test effort to ensure software/firmware product releases are sufficiently tested and operate in accordance with system requirements. All test and integration duties take place in an agile software development environment.

Product testing is for our flagship product suite, WebCTRL, which is a user-friendly, powerful software and firmware suite used in commercial building automation systems. Automated Logic’s systems are installed in office buildings, industrial plants, critical mission facilities, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, government complexes, hospitality/entertainment venues and retail locations worldwide. Position Description Summary:

Interacts with other engineering groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, components, or modifications. Identifies functional problems and suggests resolutions. Assists in the definition of internal quality assurance standards and the maintenance of reliability programs. Creates, analyzes & executes test cases and provides regular progress reports.

Duties

Primary Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for test plans and test cases in a project or complex QA activities within larger projects
  • Writes and executes test plans & test cases
  • Must have a strong background in software and/or firmware testing

 

  • Grows knowledge base
  • Leads other QA Engineer’s in providing time required for testing (planning, writing cases, set-up, and execution)
  • Recognizes where automation tests could benefit the testing effort.  Able to write simple automated test scripts and constantly improving skills to write more sophisticated test scripts.

Initiative

  • During design, development, and testing, recognizes most issues and takes responsibility for major issues to ensure that an effective solution is reached. This may include leading issues that involve other teams.  
  • Leading member of the team and works to build respect, confidence, and trust between members. Should also be taking active QA lead in projects. Follows team and department standards and helps to ensure others do so. Actively engages other team members to learn more and discuss new ideas.

Requirements

  • Leads in the act of reviewing and analyzing requirements. May meet with customers and other corporate partners.
  • Ensures that requirements contain appropriate detail and requests more details when needed. Responsible for ensuring that test plans are completely defined and understood.

Scope

  • Works on QA tasks in assigned order. Ensures that management and team are aware of tasks and any blockages.
  • Can recognize impact of developers’ change on system and provide input and recommendations.

Leadership

  • Guides others in their work and shares knowledge and experience.
  • Ensures that problems are raised appropriately and that quality and usability are a priority for the team.
