Automated Logic Updates Online HVAC Controls Specification Tool, CTRLSpecBuilder

LAS VEGAS -

As part of its ongoing commitment to the engineering community, Automated Logic Corporation (ALC), a leading provider of innovative building automation systems, has updated its CTRLSpecBuilder® specification tool. Since its debut in 2003, the CTRLSpecBuilder tool has been accessed by thousands of registered users from over 50 countries and has been used to create over 35,000 specifications. ALC is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The CTRLSpecBuilder tool, available at www.ctrlspecbuilder.com, is free to use and helps engineers prepare bid specifications for heating, ventilating and air conditioning HVAC control systems quickly and accurately. With the new upgrades, the CTRLSpecBuilder tool now has an enhanced user interface along with updated verbiage to support industry-emerging technologies and other advanced energy saving strategies. Since the update, the number of registered users and specifications created has continued to rise.

“The CTRLSpecBuilder® tool has been widely accepted by the engineering community, which is why we continue to sponsor it,” says Mead Rusert, president, Automated Logic. “It helps engineers create specifications in a fraction of the time that it used to take because it allows them to build the specification by answering questions about the scope of the project. Then, by using simple drop-down menus, the engineer can generate sequences of operation, point lists, and schematics for all HVAC equipment in the project. The resulting specification is open and vendor-neutral, allowing multiple control system suppliers to bid on it. This is great for building owners as proprietary control systems limit competition and tend to cost more over the life of the facility.”

Based on ASHRAE Guideline 13-2015 (“Specifying Direct Digital Control Systems”), the custom, non-proprietary specifications that the CtrlSpecBuilder tool creates follow the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) MasterFormat. Try the CTRLSpecBuilder tool today to create and download as many specifications as you wish – no e-mail address or other identification required.
