BACnet Integration
BACnet® is the standard protocol for building automation. The WebCTRL® building automation system supports native BACnet, enabling seamless communication with both Automated Logic® controllers and third‑party BACnet devices. Integration with third‑party BACnet devices requires OptiFlex™ Integrators or ALC controllers with a BACnet® protocol driver that integrates these devices into the WebCTRL system. Once integrated, users can centrally manage and control all native ALC and third party BACnet devices through a single, intuitive WebCTRL user interface.
Hardware & Communication: To integrate third-party devices, you must use an Automated Logic controller that supports them (like the OF1628) or an OptiFlex Integrator with flexible point packs (like the OFHI-A). Devices must be physically connected to the WebCTRL system via BACnet/IP, Ethernet, MS/TP, SC, or ARCNET networks. The protocol driver enables the system to read and write BACnet objects from these devices.
BACnet Objects Identification: WebCTRL supports automated BACnet discovery to identify networks, devices, and objects. Alternatively, object information, including device instance, type, and address, can be manually provided directly from the device manufacturer.
Point Mapping: Identified third-party points are mapped as WebCTRL Network I/O points. These behave like native WebCTRL points and can be used in control logic, displayed on dashboards, and monitored for trends or alarms exactly like native ALC BACnet points.
Unified WebCTRL Management: All integrated points appear within the WebCTRL system hierarchy. This provides operators with a single, centralized view of both Automated Logic and third-party equipment for consistent monitoring and troubleshooting.
Licensing & Point Usage Considerations: Integration points are available on select Automated Logic controllers and OptiFlex Integrators. Points are consumed only when referencing third-party BACnet objects; native Automated Logic BACnet points do not count toward your total. Point capacity is defined either by fixed, model-specific limits (e.g., OF1628) or by licensed BACnet point packs (like on the OFHI-A) supported exclusively on OptiFlex Integrators. Point packs can be purchased in 100-point increments, limited to specific integrators and controllers.
